Our family (Burris – Coleman – Butler – Cole – Simpson) have been freedmen and citizens of the Choctaw Nation since the 1830’s in Indian Territory of the Choctaw Nation in (Columbus County) Lownes, Mississippi. However, during this time while they were living in there. The Burris, Cole, and Butler ancestors were enslaved and owned by several Choctaw Indian Families. The most famous family that enslaved them was the Pitchlynn Family.
